Wire welding is used to assemble entire automotive frames (or parts of them) in low and medium scale productions, in a process that also includes riveting and gluing operations. The distinctive feature is the ability to quickly reconfigure the production line during production changes, enabling the processing of small batches.
A dedicated vision system ensures the control of the welding quality, while a metrological system verifies the spatial dimensions of the assembled frame compared to the reference CAD model. This is achieved through the use of metrological heads positioned on the robot itself. Finally, the programming of welding sequences is done offline, allowing for precise and optimized planning of welding paths.
